After a year of isolation and bound to our local areas, 2021 has been a welcome relief to get out and about to enjoy our State and its festivities.

Over the weekend of 17 to 18th July 2021, the is being held at the Thargomindah Rodeo Grounds in South-West Queensland. This is a popular event, which occurs annually over two days presenting musical entertainment, food, refreshments, camping and more. Entry to the event is $30.00 per person per day and if you wish to camp, non-powered sites are $5.00 per site and powered sites $15.00 per night (medical only).

If you are already out there, then great you know there is a sealed road all the way from Brisbane and for those who did not know, you do not have to worry about dirt roads, however, caution is to not travel at night when native animals like cattle and kangaroos are present on the road.

The music programme includes gigs from the following artists:

  • Ged & Trudy Hintz , who are a multi-award-winning Duo
  • Brian Letton – Australia's Leading Country Vocalist
  • Dave Prior – Singer/Songwriter/Comedian
  • Sharon Benjamin – Multi-talented Vocalist who can sing all genres of music
  • Rob Reece – hails from Tamworth and a Singer /Songwriter/ Guitarist
  • Ernie Constance – Prolific Bush Balladeer/Songwriter & Golden Guitar Award Winner
  • Col Driscoll -Award Winning Bush Poet and MC
  • Plus, local talent Thargomindah Ladies, Jacinta & Stevie Byrne who are appearing on Saturday night only.

  • Amenities available at the Rodeo Grounds include showers, toilets and water, food, firewood, EFTPOS available for camping and festival entry only, along with Camp Oven cooking demonstrations, Damper Cooking Competition (The Golden Cam Oven Award) and planned activities through the week. If you wish to arrive early, you can camp from Tuesday 6th July. There will be a regular shuttle bus to the event and a prize for Shopper Dockets.

Other conditions that need to be adhered to are:

  • Dogs are allowed, but at all times must always be kept on leads
  • Generators can be used from 8.00am to 8.00pm only.

  • It would be beneficial for any traveller to pop into the Thargomindah Visitor Information Centre when you arrive in town for leaflets on the Bulloo Shire , places to stay and other interesting sites to visit.

Country folk know how to organise a great event and as Country Music is part of being Australian, the is an ideal venue to kick off any around Australia Travel.
