Do you like to indulge in a nice drop to drink but don't always like the price tag that follows?

I am here to tell you you don't need to spend a fortune to drink well! I am a white wine and bubbles kind of girl ... so here are some of my tips.

Shop Smart
- Dan Murphy's has a great range and will match other specials in other bottle shops.

- For those who don't like to support big chains, or don't live local to a Dan's keep an eye out on specials at the boutique or online stores.

- Join a wine mailing list. There are a few ones out there that will alert you to the specials as they come.

- When you find a great deal on a good drop buy in bulk. You will often get a discount for buying 6 or more at a time.

- Get to know your Wine Managers in store, over time they will understand your likes and dislikes and let you know of any deals/bargains!

Look outside the box
- Don't just go for the known and commercial brands.
- Try something different - French, Italian, Spanish, German etc
Some of my favourites are:

Chardonnay:
- Under $10!! Go on, give it a try. Paul Mas
- Under $20
Domaine Astruc

Other Whites:
- Under $15 Dopff - Pinot Blanc

Bubbles:
- For around $15 these two are little gems:
Saint Hilaire
Sieur d'Arques

The real deal:
Often Champagnes go on sale. Dan Murphy's often has Mumm and Veuve Clicquot on sale. Thats when you buy them. But for a cheapie, I always like Duperrey

And the best thing about buying mainstream wines, is when you entertain no one know how much you have spent!
