A good recommendation for a peaceful weekend stroll, without venturing far from the CBD, would be along the Chambers Gully Track. This secluded track can be accessed from Waterfall Gully Road, within the Burnside Council area and takes you through some spectacular temperate South Australian forest.

The gully track itself is gentle – it runs alongside a stream that trickles through the gully - but there are steeper diversions available for the willing bush walker, with spectacular views over Adelaide as the reward. One of the great things about this walk is the abundance of wildlife on display: there are many birds, all chirping delightfully, but without doubt the main attraction is the koala. We managed to spot eight koalas on our last Chambers Gully walk, and a greater commitment to stumbling around with one's head raised to the treetops would certainly guarantee many more (along with a sore neck).

There is something special about seeing a koala out in the wild, usually curled up and motionless in an old gum tree, and there seems to be a never-ending supply of these Australian creatures on display above and around the Chambers Gully Track.

Overall, Chambers Gully is a fantastic place for a peaceful stroll, and a guaranteed success for entertaining any overseas guest!
