Good food and service shared in an elegant design space
The Chalkboard Cafe situated in the PYD design centre in Waterloo is a hidden gem. Shying away from the hustle and bustle of the cafe strip of Danks street around the corner, Chalkboard Cafe is elegantly tucked inside the large home furnishings and interior design building. Beautiful decor with an arrangement of furniture which caters to all sized groups from comfy chairs to long tables to street side bench seating. The clever team at Chalkboard Cafe proudly announce their philosophy is to successfully provide their guests with an outstanding culinary experience and a standard of service which is "second to none". This is most definitely true. On arrival we were promptly seated and brought glasses of water. Our ordered coffee followed soon after as we poured over the menu. The space is large and on this Saturday morning it was not filled but that made for a comfortable dining environment with little noise and a calm atmosphere. Our meals were beautiful. I chose the avocado, walnut and stilton blue cheese salad with plenty of greenery for $14.
Whilst my friend chose the creamy grilled salmon pasta for a very reasonable $28. Both meals were completely adequate although there was room for more. We couldn't resist the dessert menu. The choices looked too good.
