There are many wonderful forms of art to enjoy and chalk as a medium is growing in popularity. Chalk artists around the globe are now participating in festivals and what's not to like about these, especially when the images are of the 3D kind with creations that jump out at you. They also provide interaction for the public like the one below.

Chalk the Walk is an art festival produced by Zest Events International that travels many countries and engages artists in competitions with themes and now they're coming to The Entrance this school holidays, so it makes perfect sense to escape the city and head to the Central Coast with the kids for some fun on the waterfront.

This free four-day pavement painting event will transform the town plaza and Memorial Park into an interactive zone with something for both young and old.

Highlights include:-

Lead artist Anton Pulvirenti creating two giant 3D chalk images each day (Thursday & Friday)
The Entrance Market gracing the grounds of Memorial Park with its fresh produce and market stalls on Saturday selling everything from plants to jewellery, craft, food and artisan products
A public viewing on Saturday of local artists creating their masterpieces
Becoming part of the 3D illusion through striking a pose in front of the artworks
Chalk it Up! Children's Chalk Art where children of all ages are able to go wild and express themselves on the chalkboard snake
Joining a workshop on Sunday to create a collaborative group artwork called the 'Mandala Project'
Following the trail on Sunday of all the amazing artwork

Chalk Art

Local artists (18yrs & over) are urged to take part in this inaugural event that will see you given the opportunity to attend a 2hr workshop with lead artist Anton, followed by a day to create your own masterpiece for the community. All levels of experience are welcome. Applications close on 24 September. For more information and to apply, click here.

This outdoor museum of chalk art brings further colour and activity to this location where you can also watch the pelican feeding at 3.30pm daily, enjoy amusement rides, live music, grab something to eat in the cafes and restaurants or cool down with a sorbet from an ice cream parlour.

What more could you want with this great day out or weekend away only 90 minutes from Sydney?
