Every Saturday in September from 10am - 2pm, the blooming and beautiful Queens Park Botanic Gardens is hosting Chalk Art in the Park. A free event, Kreate It will present the first artwork by local chalk artist Kristy Richardson. She is a fun and talented lady and offers painting workshops for any number of people. Her business, Kreate It, provides custom artwork, art supplies and more.
Kristy's goal this Saturday was to produce a 'gorgeous floral piece to brighten the city' and it was; featuring a bird and flowers. Painting with Crayola Washable Sidewalk Chalk, Kristy was fascinating to watch as the picture emerged. She adds Micador Soft Pastels for the professional artist's finished work. A brush and water help to smudge and set the artwork.

Chalk Art at Home
Kristy believes that everyone can be creative and artistic with a little help. 'Bright and fun' is her trademark and you too can employ all this at home. Paint your driveway 'blue and grey' or bright and colourful. A good idea is to place separate types of colours into polystyrene cups, just like Kristy. Another necessity could be kneepads.
Each week a different artist will display their talents within a 2 x 4 metre space on the bitumen. Look for the Toowoomba Regional Council marquee and rainbow-coloured bunting for a fascinating view of a true artist at work.
