Banquet at Beecroft
We decided to have a girls get-together before the frantic rush of Christmas and the obligations of family in this busy month. Ten of us descended on Chalio's at Beecroft looking forward to relishing great Thai food and enjoy each other's company.

At 7 pm the restaurant was already filling up with hungry customers. We chose the Set 2 Banquet at $37 each. As a starter, we were served an interesting dish with small balls of meat on top of a thinly sliced pineapple piece served in a spoon. Though it was not on the banquet menu, it certainly was a very tasty start to our evening.

Nice starter

Our entrees arrived soon after which included vegetable spring rolls, vegetable puffs and money bags. These dishes were incredibly tasty and for one person in our group who is vegetarian, the entrees were a good beginning. I enjoyed the dishes during the evening so much, I hadn't adapted my camera for indoor shots and didn't realise the photos were blurry. I need to calm down when let loose at social occasions.

For the mains meals, we had a prawn tamarind. I don't often eat seafood, but I enjoyed this dish. It was spicy but not overwhelming in its heat. There were also vegetables in an oyster sauce, five spice chicken, beef and cashew nut dish, plus steamed rice.

Each of these dishes were delicious but my favourite was the lamb massaman curry. The meat was cooked perfectly and was very tender.

The only drawback for me was the clamour in the restaurant. It was very noisy with many conversations happening in the restaurant, forcing some of us to shout above the din.

Chalio's is dine in or takeaway. This restaurant is directly opposite the well-lit rail station, which is ideal for parking at night, otherwise there is street parking.

Your Comment
Are you sure the complimentary starter was meat...it is usually fried shallots mixed with peanut butter and slice of chillie on top...known as Galloping Horses.
It is always noisy at this restaurant.

I'm always a big fan of thai food. But yes, some of them can be very noisy - but worth it
