I was having a cup of coffee with my friend Alessandro when he shared with me the news of a new and fabulous patisserie in Woolloongabba called Cerin. Intrigued by his description of authentic Italian sweets, pastries, cornetti, focaccia, and pizza, I knew I had to experience it for myself. The next day, I eagerly made my way to the Gabba, ready to immerse myself in the world of Cerin.
As I parked my car, it became apparent that I was nearing Cerin even before reaching its doorstep. The footpath was abuzz with activity, as people walked by, clutching parcels and boxes containing the delectable creations of Cerin. The sight of many people concentrating in one spot told me that I was just outside
Cerin Pasticceria .
I stepped inside Cerin Pasticceria, and I was immediately drawn to the elegant and sophisticated place with a beautiful display of skilled crafted pastries behind the modern glass cabinets. The professional patisserie workers glided effortlessly, sliding open the doors of the fridges which safeguard these works of art, treating each creation with the utmost care and reverence.
A Fusion of Dreams
The patisserie itself had been thoughtfully designed to capture the essence of fine Italian style and the artistry of patisserie. Every detail, from the tasteful interior decor to the carefully selected furniture, conveyed a sense of sophistication and authenticity.
It was clear that Cerin's founders, Giuseppe Caputo and Matteo Cerin, had poured their hearts and souls into creating a space that would transport customers to the enchanting world of Italian patisserie. The location of Cerin, nestled amidst a vibrant neighbourhood on Logan Road, added to its charm and accessibility.

The story behind Cerin Patisserie is one of chance encounters and shared dreams. Giuseppe, originally from the village of Moncalieri near Torino, and Matteo, from the city of Vicenza, both found themselves drawn to Australia in pursuit of new opportunities. Giuseppe thrived in the hospitality industry in Brisbane, while Matteo honed his skills and expertise in a specialized bakery in Melbourne before making his way to Brisbane.
Their paths collided when they both discovered an old bakery on Logan Road in the heart of the suburb of Woolloongabba, just near the imposing building of the Woolloongabba Stadium.
In the attempt to pursue the old venue, Giuseppe and Matteo met and discovered they had the same passion for the art of patisserie. As they explored the space and exchanged stories, it became evident that they held the same vision of creating a place where the timeless traditions of Italian patisserie could be brought to life and celebrated.
In February 2024, the transformation of the old bakery began. Four months of hard work and dedication followed as the venue underwent a remarkable metamorphosis. The space was carefully decorated, with the addition of stylish furniture, state-of-the-art machines, and specialized ovens, all positioned to facilitate the creation of masterful pastries.
A large window, strategically placed inside the premises, allows a glimpse into the heart of the patisserie, where the skilled pastry chef and his assistants work tirelessly to create the famous mouthwatering creations that have captivated so many appreciative customers.
