Ceres Organic Farm and Environment Park is an oasis in the middle of suburbia. It's such a surprise to find such a large environmental farm smack bang in the middle of East Brunswick. Over the last few years, Ceres have updated their cafe "Merri Table" and created an even larger open plan organic shop. Bring your recycled bags or jars and fill them with organic produce.
If you are a health conscious consumer like me, I highly recommend buying your fruit and vegetables here. They source from local producers and wherever they can grow their own. The tags on the veggies state where they have come from, who they are produced by, the distance travelled and whether they are certified organic or biodynamic. All the information that ethically conscious consumers want to know!
The Isa Brown chooks are content roaming, scratching and nesting digging up worms and bugs. The kids just love them! I grab my supply of eggs here once a week knowing that these hens are living their life as they should!
I stopped for a quick bIte at the Merri Table, which is a cafe situated on the left-hand side as you enter Ceres. The chai latte and flourless chocolate cake was enough to pick me up, (around that time of day when you start to feel the slump!)
Walked off the cake by meandering through the rest of the grounds, visited the nursery, circled the pond and ended up filling my basket with some organic groceries at the shop. This is a great place for families on the weekends, relax, shop listen to live music or dine at the cafe. There are many reasons to visit Ceres!
