Located next to the hustle and bustle of busy Beach Road in Black Rock and nestled down the windy path to Half Moon Bay sits a divine two storey, weatherboard sea shack with the most breathtaking and iconic beach views in Melbourne. The will melt you with the stunning sights of Port Phillip Bay, the faraway suburbs and the city skyline creating silhouettes in the distance. Whether you visit for lunch or dinner the ambiance created by this spectacular will have you spellbound and re-booking time and time again.

Named after the famous HMS Cerberus that now sits protruding out of the bay after having served as a carrier between 1868 and 1926, the Beach House is simply and classically decorated with beach inspired ornaments, lightly polished floor boards, ivory beams and simple blue walls. This works as a perfect minimalistic backdrop highlighting the glorious seaside surrounds without distracting your glance from the wall of windows facing outwards to the water.

Depending on what time or day you dine it will be completed by the sight of either the Nippers running along the waters edge, the fishermen casting off of the pier or families relishing in our Australian beach culture. However in my opinion it's the evenings that are the most impressive. It's watching the glorious sun set over the glistening ocean as far away street lights and stars dance and sparkle around you that is purely magical.

It is really no wonder that the 54 seats at this restaurant are consistently booked out all of summer and its cosy and inviting ambiance brings people with a beach passion to their favourite spot in droves when the weather is far from beach inspiring.

So the concern of course are whether the food can stand up to the view or is that an unreasonable expectation? Thankfully not at the it isn't. Rejoice! The food is amazing and can hold its own with a French and European influence and originality to please and interest all patrons. The menu is exciting and the wine list is interesting. We were recommended the Picket Fence Pinot Grigio which was the perfect choice. They even have a classy kids menu on offer along with small showbags to keep little fingers occupied.

We decided upon seafood dishes as the lure of the ocean was so strong, however meat and vegetarian dishes sound as amazing. We opted eventually for the Risotto of Balmain Bug Tail which had a wonderful combination of tomato, lemon mascopone and seafood flavours and aromas and the Crispy Skin Cone Bay Barramundi which was so fresh it simply melted in your mouth. With the option of small plates for sharing such as Macadamia and Lemon Myrtle Crusted Calamari and Oven Roasted Pork Belly or large plates for individual dining you will not be short for choice. The food is fresh, wonderfully presented and cooked to bring out the best of the produce. If you can fit in a little dessert with your sunset and liquor or coffee I would highly recommend the Banana Souffle, so light and airy it is a taste sensation and an absolute pleasure to devour.

This is a beautiful modern day beach house with million dollar views and the is one place you will savour and never forget. Book early and book always to avoid disappointment and enjoy the perfect mix of beach life culture with chic casual dining and magical ambiance.
