Central NSW Tourism has launched a new 'Food and Wine Discovery Trail' for a delicious self-drive holiday through this historic and beautiful inland area.

The Discovery Trail crosses 11 council boundaries and features over 60 tasty stops on five different tour routes. Perfect for the independent traveller who wants to fill their boot with goodies, it includes well-known foodie hotspots Orange and Mudgee, as well as Bathurst, Millthorpe, Canowindra, Cowra, Grenfell and Forbes.

"Enjoying local food and wine is a big part of daily life in Central NSW and the Trail features a variety of award-winning producers, wine-makers, restaurants, cafes, farmers markets and foodie events along the way," said Lucy White, executive officer of Central NSW Tourism.

Travellers can now also access the free Food and Wine Discovery Trail online at the Central NSW Tourism website , along with great travel and accommodation deals.

Some of the suggested experiences include hot-air ballooning over Cowra at sunrise and end with a champagne breakfast; try the unique 'appscato' sparkling at Orange's Small Acres Cyder; Logan Wines cellar door in Mudgee; and Taste Canowindra, a food, wine, art and music experience.

The Food and Wine Trail is part of the 'While you're here' campaign, which features a total of six discovery trails. The other trails are 'Gold', 'Art', 'Nature', 'Country Folk' and 'Technology'. They contain varying routes from half-day to seven-day adventures with maps, places to stay, events, interesting facts and booking information.

"The Discovery Trails give independent travellers confidence to hit the road and explore Central NSW. The area offers unforgettable journeys though historic mining villages, over rich agricultural river flats, along old travelling stock reserves and through untouched National Parks," White said.
