Central Baking Depot is the gorgeous 'little sister' of the famous Bourke Street Bakery. As a 'family' member, Bourke Street Bakery exclusively supplies Central Baking Depot with their amazing range of pies and sausage rolls, pizzas, salads and sandwiches.
I was in search of my morning coffee fix when I stumbled upon Central Baking Depot in a little lane in Neutral Bay. I was drawn by the gathering of people milling around outside, chatting, smiling – and just seeming to have a great start to their day. I thought to myself – it must be something in the coffee, so I headed that way.
I was delighted to pass through the gathering and find a sweet little bakery inside - and was immediately enticed by the delicious aroma of fresh bread baking and strong espresso.
I popped into the waiting queue and shortly thereafter had placed my order for my morning latte. As I waited, I couldn't help but drool over the delicious pastries in the counter display and ended up back in the queue for a Chocolate Ganache Tart (yes, I had a Chocolate Ganache Tart for breakfast). This proved to be a great choice as the tart was absolutely heavenly, with a crispy and brittle crust and the smoothest velvety ganache that went down perfectly with my coffee.

Before heading off to get on with my day, I got back in the queue for a third time to grab some Olive and Rosemary focaccia. The focaccia turned out to be the perfect lunch when filled and toasted with last night's left-over lamb roast, roasted capsicum and some fresh peppery rocket.
