Located in the Southern Highlands Centennial Vineyards is a lovely destination for a day trip from Sydney. Situated five minutes' drive from Bowral and just over an hour's drive from Sydney the Centennial Vineyards Restaurant serves up high teas and lunches in a picturesque setting.

The Bong Bong sparkling wine was a perfect complement to the food and the sparkling autumn weather. Wines from the vineyard are available by the glass or bottle and there are serving suggestions on the menu to complement the meals.

A variety of tasty options are on the menu . The six daily items on our tasting slate entree were a shot glass of creamy mushroom soup, terrine, pate hidden under two crisps, a kilpatrick oyster, ceviche salmon and a quiche. Each item was delicious and the buttery, flaky pastry of the quiche was surprisingly good.

The slow cooked duck leg was a very generous serve and there was enough of the Pinot Noir sauce to satisfy even Manu. The following photo does not do the dish justice; it was much more attractive to the eye. The barramundi with fennel & endive salad looked great as well.

The vanilla bean panna cotta with berry jelly, strawberry & champagne essence was a lovely light finish to the meal although I had been tempted by the warm apple crepe with spiced rhubarb syrup and cinnamon ice cream.

Bookings are essential as the restaurant also caters for corporate events and weddings. Visit the adjacent cellar door for wine tastings or to purchase some wine, chutneys and chocolate to take home.
