The moment you realize that Valentine's Day is upon you
Wow! It's that time of year again. Stores have had their chocolate Valentine's treats out since December 26th and ever since then, you have been anticipating the festive day. You have dreamt of boxes filled with specialty chocolates and flowers, especially roses. Now that the special day is upon you, are you worried about how you are going to spend it? Or are you just considering this now and starting to freak out? No worries, we all have our moments, but right now will hopefully be one of those moments where you can breathe and consider your options.
First thing is first, when you imagine Valentine's Day, what do you see? Chocolate? Flowers? Hearts? Cupid? Love? Friendship? Homemade cards? All of those? Whatever sticks out to you will determine how you are most likely to spend this grand day. Perhaps you see a heart. If so, you may lean towards spending the day with your loved ones. You could do this by making heartfelt cards for them, eating out at places like Uno and Due, Everest, Bavette's Bar and Boeuf, the Gage, North Pond, and other favorite restaurants in Chicago. You could spend it by going for a cruise on the Odyssey, watching a movie at the AMC theatre, going to a paint ball or laser quest place, playing board games, or doing something more physical, like iceskating.
For those of you that see Cupid, you are more likely to have a lover in your life. Fun ways to spend the day with this special person are walking around downtown Chicago, going to fancy Chicagoan restaurants, recreating your first date, and giving each other really expensive chocolate from Fannie May or Sees Candies, which is always a favorite. Another option may be proposing...
Now for those of us that picture friendship, we don't always have a lover, so we celebrate Valentine's Day with our friends. You could have a dance party, go to Allyu spa in Chicago, or have a dinner party. If you want to go a little out of your comfort zone, why not be a little crazy and have a Disney Princess Marathon? Come on, we have to let our inner princesses out every once in awhile, and dreaming of our own Prince Charming could never hurt, at least not on Valentine's Day.
