Looking for a fiesta of food and fun on the weekend?
On the weekend of 14 and 15 September, grab your family and friends and head to the Redcliffe Peninsula for Celebrate Redcliffe Festival 2013 for a weekend of jam-packed entertainment befitting the warmer temperatures. Read on for the complete guide to this excellent festival for all ages.
Get up close and personal with the drivers and their fabulous super boats at Scarborough Boat Harbour between 10am and 3pm. This is your chance to meet and greet the drivers and get a snap shot of those fine-looking machines. Sausage sizzle, BBQ, face painting and lots more activities also on the day.
Come back on Sunday 15 September and make your way to the Redcliffe Foreshore at 11am and 1pm to get that front row seat for the thrilling race of up to 20 boats. Don't miss this as it is guaranteed to be an brilliant sight.
On Saturday 14 September from 4pm, get ready for a busy afternoon and evening because there are lots of great events on deck to entertain the masses.
Travel through Brazil and other parts of Latin America while watching the sensational dancers and performers from Ola Brazil; witness the traditional Chinese lion dance; see the dances of the South Pacific and perhaps learn a few steps; be amazed by Fiesta dance show with their moves and grooves; and watch in amazement while the Heilani Productions puts on an authentic Polynesian showcase spectacle.
Dancing aside, there will also be a music extravaganza from clubs and bands around Brisbane. Experience the extraordinary Celtic music by the Moreton Celtic Fiddle Club; tap your toes to the sound of Jahbutu Band's reggae music; be awed by Mzaza's exceptional stage show and their rare combination of influences from the Mediterranean, the Balkans and the Middle-East; and get high on Grupo Izalco super energetic show incorporating Latin music styles from Central and South America.
What's more, there will be scrumptious food, fun rides and awesome activities for all until 9pm.
Last but not least, the fantastic Sunset Fiesta culminates in a magnificent display of fireworks so sit back, relax and enjoy the fireworks. On your way home, you'll feel like you've taken a trip around the globe!

If you think Saturday was a big day, then you may be wrong as Sunday aims to be an even bigger one. Beginning at 9am, there will be wonderful entertainment, lots of fun activities, informative workshops and hundreds of markets stalls throughout the day until 4pm. At the Ambassador Hotel Stage on the southern end of Redcliffe Parade, the day begins with Brisbane's rock and indie band, Old King Jones, ends with the high energy folk/roots band Brother Fox and dancing, singing, beatboxing by various other artists everywhere in between.
The Redcliffe Foreshore is sure to be full of action. With the Re-enactment of the First European Landing by members of the Queensland Colonial Association and the Gubbi Gubbi Aboriginal tribe and the Indigenous Welcome at 10.30am; skydiving displays at 9am, 12noon and 3pm; and Offshore Superboat Championships at 11am and 1pm, it will be hard to keep away from this area.
The Healthy & Active Moreton program promises to be interesting, enjoyable, enlightening and educational. Located on ANZAC Place, come and join the celebrated chef Matt Golinsk as MC at Seaside Kitchen for some cooking tips, recipe ideas and food expertise. What's more, there will be an array of free and low cost come and try fitness activities ranging from various water sports to scooter skills for kids to self defence training to yoga.
Last but not least, Kids Zone at the northern end of Redcliffe Parade is sure to stimulate and keep the kids busy from 9am to 4pm. Lots of workshops and activities including giant games, face painting, animal farm, sand art, decorative kites, etc., will be available as well as exhilarating and exciting rides. Whatever you do, remember to visit the Festival Information Tent to get your treasure map for the awesome treasure hunt. Don't snooze, or you'll lose because entries are limited.
