Preston Market's celebration of all things Salami will manifest on National Salami Day held at The Market, 30 The Centreway, Preston, for one day only on Saturday 7 September 2019 from 8am to 3pm. Entry is FREE.

Home to more than 12 Italian owned stalls, the Market pays tribute to these Italian stallholders and their traditions, and you get to get amongst plenty of salami tastings, special offers (see poster above for a taste of what's to come) and more. Vegans don't miss out either, as Rhubarb Rhubarb Organics are offering Vegan Salami Tastings.


To top it all off, you can learn the art of Salami making with Sara Grazia aka Sausage Queen from Sausages Made Simple. Author of 3 instructional and best-selling books (available for sale on the day) you can head to the website for a sneak peek or to buy directly online. Copies of Sausages Made Simple, Secrets in Salami, Rump to Rafters and a DVD on Sausages Made Simple bought on the day will be personally signed by Sara Grazia.

The FREE demonstration will run from 11am to 1pm and is located in the middle intersection of the Market.

Of Italian heritage and a smallgoods specialist, Sara will enlist participation from the crowd to assist in making the products. She'll cover all aspects of Salami Making from food safety and hygiene, meat selection, meat boning, preparation, recipes, maturing and tastings. You'll learn good techniques in processing with quality equipment, safety techniques from start to finish and preservation of salami.


Preston Market run many interesting events on a regular basis throughout the year, so watch out for them. Upcoming on the next day (8 Sep 2019 from 11am to 12.30pm) they have a Kombucha Making Workshop with Rhubarb Rhubarb Organics - Camilla Hodgkins. You'll need to grab your tickets now to get into this popular event that'll teach you how to brew your own kombucha at home and to make different flavours as well.

Other current events include a FREE Flower Craft Workshop with Green and Gold Flowers on Sun 15 Sep from 10am to 1pm for kids; no bookings required and the kids get to take home their creations. The Market has more kids activities lined up for the school holidays as footy finals are celebrated in warmer weather with activities as listed below with plenty of prizes to be won.

Footy Fever Handball (kids 4 years to 13 years) Wednesday 25 September & Thursday 26 September from 10am -1pm
Golf Putting Fun on Wednesday 2 October & Thursday 3 October from 10am 1pm
