Celebrate Kambarang is part of City of Belmont's Let's Celebrate Festival. Join in to celebrate the Noongar season of Kambarang on Saturday 27 November 2021 from 5.30pm to 8.30pm AWST at Wilson Park Sump, 100 Gerring Court, corner Gerring Court and Kooyong Road, Rivervale. This is a free event, but you need to register to attend. There's live entertainment, activities, and food available to purchase. A smoke and alcohol-free event, it's a great way to spend your Saturday afternoon. Why not take a look at many other fun, free Festival events on the Events Calendar.

During Kambarang aka Wildflower Season (season of birth Oct-Nov) you'll see an abundance of colours and flowers exploding around us. The yellows of the acacias, and other vibrant colours from the banksias, kangaroo paw and orchids. Animals are more likely to encounter a snake as reptiles start to awaken from hibernation. Many things are undergoing transformation with the warm change in weather and Kambarang stands to celebrate the season of birth and renewal. For the latest about your community, follow the City of Belmont on Facebook, Instagram and sign up for the e-newsletter.

This is the 5th season of the Noongar calendar of which there are six Noongar seasons. Each represents the environmental and seasonal changes that occur around us and contain a deeper description of our subtle and distinct experience of plants, flowers and animals around us. For your interest, the six Nongar seasons are -

Birak (December January)
Bunuru (February March)
Djeran (April May)
Makuru (June July)
Djilba (August September)
Kambarang (October November)

Take a moment to stop and tune into the magic impulse of nature as it bursts forth in blossom, new baby birds and animals, and the magnificent renewal of life everywhere.
