On August 15, 1947, India gained independence from British rule and ever since then, August 15 is celebrated with an annual holiday in India. Brisbane's Chinatown Mall is hosting a colourful festival on August 17, 2013 to mark our own Indian Independence Day. Head along to see whirling saris, feast on Indian curries, sip authentic chai tea and maybe stock up on jingling metal bracelets at the markets.
