How to Celebrate the 'End of the World'

Well according to some people life on earth as we know it is meant to come to an abrupt halt on December 21st at 11.11pm USA time (11.11am on the 22nd for us in WA). The whole Mayan prophecy thing coupled with a concerning increase in natural disasters and obscure weather patterns has got a lot of people on their toes. Whether you believe it or not, I'd say it's a pretty good reason to round up the mates and have a good time. Here's my tips to celebrate the destruction of the evil species we know as Homo homo sapiens.
Camping in the bush
Gather the mates, pack the 4x4s and head into the bush. This is what I actually plan on doing. Don't bother heading to a designated camp ground, instead live a little; get out into the bush and rough it for your last days on earth. Beaches such as Wilbinga,
Wedge Island or Fitzgerald National Park are great options, as well as river banks such as Moore River or the mighty Blackwood down south.
Just imagine spending your last night, sitting around a fire, staring into the stars with some nice fire roasted steaks and a few bevvies. Nothing much could beat that. The serenity of being surrounded by nothing but sand, trees and water would be much like the calm before the storm. And the best thing is, when you wake up the next morning you'll have no idea if civilization actually did capitulate over night!
Party in the hills
Got a mate with a house overlooking Perth? Well you're in luck! What better way to see our great city disintegrate than on a balcony with a glass of champagne... maybe some caviar too, we may as well live it up once more.
On the down side after watching the city go under the hills will be next. They are elevated, but possibly not enough to see off giant tidal waves, not to mention bush fires - an all time doomsday favourite.
Romantic Date
Well your friends and family may not see eye to eye with you if they are real believers in the apocalypse but hey; you can't satisfy everyone! Surely there is no better time to hold an extravagant romantic gesture. Showing your other half that you want to spend your last seconds on earth with them is (according to movies) the most heart warming thing any person can do.
Imagine you're sitting on a rock by the ocean, the winds are howling, the seas are monstrous and the skies are wreaking havoc. You can see the cold grip of doomsday tightening, all you can do is hold each other tight, and make time for one last kiss before it's all over. And hey, if we survive, you're other half will know for sure that you are devoted to them, that's a win.
I personally do not believe anything will happen, the natural disasters and Mayan thing are just a coincidence in my eyes. I do however love the idea and the imagination behind it, it's very fascinating. Hence why I believe it's a perfectly good reason to spend the night doing something a little special. Any reason is a good reason right!?
