Visit Healesville Sanctuary between Saturday 5 and Monday 21 April and be part of the Corrobree fun celebrating Indigenous people and culture.

There are heaps of activities for adults and kids alike. So join in and learn about Aboriginal culture all the while having lots of fun.

Kids and their families can have their face painted with funky Indigenous designs by the talented face painters. Music lovers should have a go at playing the didgeridoo and clap sticks. Creative cats will enjoy bracelet weaving, ochre grinding and traditional stone painting in the Aboriginal art classes on offer. And you can also become a skilled boomerang thrower if you want. Sporty souls should challenge their football skills by participating in the traditional Aussie rules, Marngrook. So come and have a go!

There are shows that will amaze the delight the crowds. Watch as the magnificent Wedge-tailed Eagle Bunjil soar into the sky for Spirits of the Sky Presentation. And head to the Tales from Platypus Creek show to see Woterang the platypus splash about and swim around.

Keen chefs can cook their own wattle seed damper and learn to cook fish in paperbark. Come and try yummy bush tucker food made from indigenous plants or pop by the Harvest cafe for a delicious indigenous platter. Other activities such as dancing and Indigenous storeytelling will also keep visitors busy throughout the day.

Special Events

What's more, there are a few fantastic special events that you definitely shouldn't miss.

Campfire Corroboree with Archie Roach on Saturday 5 April will be an extraordinary evening, mark my words. As one of Australia's top singer-storytellers, Archie is an internationally recognised talent who will be performing heaps of songs with his band.

Gates open at 6pm and guests can enjoy some pre-entertainment and animal encounters at 6.30pm. This will be followed by a Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony before Archie and his band take to the stage at 7.15pm.

General admission tickets to Campfire Corroboree are $69 and premium tickets are $110, both of which include entry to the Sanctuary during the day. Bring a picnic with your favourite munchies and drinks along with a nice blanket. But if you've purchased a premium ticket, you'll be nibbling on tasty treats in your gourmet harvest Yarra Valley picnic hamper. If you don't want to bother bringing your own picnic, then I'm sure the huge variety of mouth-watering eats at the Sanctuary will satisfy your cravings.

All proceeds from this event will benefit Zoos Victoria and assist them in fighting wildlife extinction. So book your tickets now!

On selected days, the traditional dance group, Dardee Balagamdail will performance at 1.30pm. Plus, Mick Woiwod will share his knowledge about the Coranderrk with visitors and don't miss out on the Smoking Ceremonies.

With so much going on in April including animal encounters, music, arts, crafts, food and dance, there are plenty of good reasons to visit Healesville Sanctuary. And if you don't want to break the bank, visit the Sanctuary on weekends, during Victorian Government school holidays or on a public holiday because kids under 16 years of age are absolutely free. How good is that?
