Celebrate by Lauren Conrad is her third non-fiction book. This beautiful book is filled with practical advice for throwing a great party and illustrated with stunning pretty photography. Lauren writes about her experiences throwing parties for friends and recounting her own housewarming party, bridal shower and wedding.
The first part of the book is devoted to preparing for a celebration including coming up with a concept, how to make a great invitation, working out the menu, stocking a bar and d้cor techniques.
The second part of the book has a chapter dedicated to all the different types of party you could hold. You'll find advice on birthdays, engagements, bridal showers, housewarmings, dinner parties, baby showers, a clambake, bachelorette party, wedding, brunch, a holiday party and finally New Year's Eve party. Each party has a section on the overview, the menu, the bar, the d้cor, the details, what to wear and etiquette tips.
The book would make a great go-to reference to provide inspiration and ideas, rather than something you'd want to follow to the t. There are recipes for a number of typically American-style pies, a clambake and basic cocktails, but I wish she'd added the recipes for the menu plans listed under each party type.
The book will appeal to a younger generation of women, but some of the advice is not affordable. For example, Lauren gave her bridesmaids vintage monogrammed handkerchiefs with their initials, dainty rose gold and diamond bar necklaces by Dana Rebecca, painted petal jumpers and robes by Plum Pretty Sugar and adorable sleeping masks with cat ears and bows by Naomilingerie. While the groomsmen were given customized bocce ball sets!
Enjoy a little escapism with Lauren Conrad's Celebrate book but make sure you write down your budget and look for affordable cheats on Pinterest.
