The Cavalier Capers Fun Days provide a great opportunity for all Cavalier King Charles Spaniels to come along with their owners, families and friends to enjoy a day out together.

The second Cavalier Capers for 2015 will be held on Sunday 18th October at the Beefacres Reserve, Pittwater Crescent, Windsor Gardens. This attractive venue offers a large, grassed area for games and activities and plenty of shady gum trees for Cavaliers and their people to relax under. Several gazebos will provide extra shade and people are welcome to bring their own gazebos or beach shelters if they wish. Seating in the area is limited, so bring along your folding chairs and/or a picnic rug so you and your Cavaliers can relax in comfort.

Activities start at 11.00am and continue until approximately 3.00pm and barbecued food, delicious pancakes for dessert, cool drinks, tea and coffee will be available. Entry to the event is free and people can come and go whenever they please.

A special event at this fun day will be the 'Dash Look Alike' competition. Dash was the much loved toy spaniel belonging to Queen Victoria and was her constant companion through her teenage years and during the early part of her reign. Dash died on 20th December, 1840, so this year marks the 175th Anniversary of his death.

A number of other games and events will be run during the day with ribbons and prize bags of goodies awarded to all first, second and third place-getters. A small entry fee of 50 cents is charged for each event.

The Junior and Senior Fancy Dress classes are very popular, with some owners dressing themselves and their Cavaliers in matching or complimentary costumes. Events for the Best Groomed Cavalier and the Cavalier in Best Weight and Condition are always well contested and other events include Cavalier Most Like Its Owner, Waggiest Tail, Best Matched Pair of Cavaliers, Egg and Spoon Race and Sausage Race. Spin The Cavalier is a game of chance (like Spin The Bottle) and the smaller children can have fun with Pass The Parcel.

Experienced Cavalier breeders will be on hand during the day to answer any questions about Cavaliers and their care and grooming and to offer advice on any problems owners may have come across with their own Cavaliers. And if you don't like cutting your Cavalier's nails yourself, or expressing its anal glands, these chores can be taken care of during the day for a small charge.

Lots of edible and other goodies will be available for purchase from the bring and buy Trading Table, but be warned that the best items are snapped up very quickly. Dog brushes, combs and other canine care items will also be available for sale.

Anyone with a sweet tooth and can try to win a jar of jelly beans by correctly guessing how many jelly beans are in the jar.

Prizes for the raffle which will be run on the day are a large basket of goodies, a beautiful, handmade, terracotta water bowl from Studio Sebastian in Tasmania and a bottle of wine. The bowl is double glazed, lead free, dishwasher and microwave safe and is crafted to be extra strong. The winner of the raffle can choose which prize they prefer to take, the runner-up will choose from the remaining two prizes and the third place ticket will receive the prize which is left.

A parking area on the south side of the Beefacres Reserve provides ample space for cars and the venue and toilets are wheelchair accessible.

If the day is unseasonably hot the club's hot weather policy will come into play and Cavalier Capers will be cancelled if, on Friday 16th October, the forecast temperature for Sunday 18th October is 37 degrees or above. If the event is cancelled a notice will be placed on the home page of the Club's web site .
