Yes, I know the colder months are coming and not everyone wants to be outside but plenty of children will disagree that it's cold and still want to go outside and play, like mine. I take some extra clothes to keep them warm and let them run and play despite a cool grey day.

Once you're out there, it's not so bad and it's nice to feel the different elements, it makes me appreciate a clear sunny day that much more.

For those kids that don't mind being outside in the cooler months then this is a fantastic park, we had a great afternoon here, with something for all the kids to play on, from toddlers to teens.

There are three main sections of play equipment, the first is a toddler friendly section with steps close together, small slides, swings and much more. The second section is suitable from about 4 as the equipment gets a little bigger and more challenging. The third is the hill side slide, climbing wall and climbing net, which are best used under supervision and may need adult assistance with small children.

For the older kids there is a football field, basketball ring, and other ovals to play on, there is also a running track that goes around the perimeter of the park with exercise stations with instructions at each station.

We visited Caulfield Park on Anzac Day and it was very popular with locals and visitors, with many having set up elaborate picnic spots with their own BBQs and musical instruments along with bottles of wine, which added nicely to the atmosphere.

There are several BBQs on site, so there is no need to take your own unless you prefer to. Other facilities include free car parking, toilets and water. The park is also fully fenced.

Caulfield park is big with the playground to one side, football ovals in the middle and lovely gardens and water feature on the other side of the park.

The flowering gum trees had many lorikeets
feeding on the nectar. For such a busy park I wasn't expecting to see the amount of bird life, it's really nice to see that in the city.

If you are local you may like to join the Friends of Caulfield Park, established in 2007 to manage the park and make sure it's utilised to its full potential. They also run events such as music in the park and Clean Up Australia Day

I highly recommend a visit to Caulfield Park and playground, as do most other websites I have looked at, rating it in the top ten Melbourne playgrounds. I'm sure you will enjoy it as much as we did.
