Tips from stylists make you a catwalk contestant @ op shop
Op-shops are nearly as common as your major retailers with one or two in your suburb. The shops give the everyday citizen a chance to be sustainable by giving unwanted, outdated clothing and other household items to a charity to be recycled into the community. If money is tight or you cannot find what you are after elsewhere, op shops have plenty of variety from formal gowns, wedding attire, office dress and casual wear; there is something for everyone.
In support of ALYA Inc, the Rotary Elizabeth Quay (REQ) is presenting a charity fundraiser, cocktail-style fashion mini catwalk event to promote op-shopping and clothing donations. Ninety percent of proceeds raised will support the AYLA Inc Charitable Programs with the remainder being retained by REQ for club operations.
AYLA Inc's vision is simply changing minds, changing lives. With a mission of empowering people to overcome hardships and reach their full potential to become the person they wish to be, AYLA helps with building trust-based alliances between individuals and stakeholders as well as providing emergency food support, mental health support, emergency housing and education programmes.
This fundraising event will commence at 5.00pm at the AYLA Op-shop, 10 McKinnon Street, Cockburn Central and conclude at 8.30pm. Commencing with a pre-show drink and canapes, the show will feature two fifteen-minute segments with models wearing recycled fashion and stylists discussing how to buy and style your recycled wear. This event concludes at 8.30pm.
