CATS, the popular musical is coming to Maryborough. It will be showing on Saturday 6 September at 2pm at The Brolga Theatre. This production is presented by the South Burnett Musical Comedy Society. The musical follows the original production with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and songs based on the "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats" by T.S. Eliot.

The Cats Cast
This is Sue Dowideit-Reiger's first production as assistant director/musical director. She said that directing this musical has been a very rewarding and enriching experience.
The show features many talented singers and dancers from the South Burnett community. Cast members range in age from 5 to 85. Many of the cast, like Ted, are very experienced in preforming in musicals. Ted Wall started performing in musicals at the age of 60. His first performance was in 'Irene'. He has performed in one musical every year for the last 25 years and has been with the South Burnett Musical and Comedy Society since 1998. Ted said that he felt it was wonderful for young people to feel welcome.
For some of the younger members like Eleanor Nicholson (age 13) and Kaitlyn Clancy (age 14), this is their first musical. Eleanor said she auditioned because she thought it would be a fun and enjoyable experience, a great opportunity to wear a cat costume and a chance to catch up with old friends. Kaitlyn auditioned for the chance of a fun experience and opportunity to meet like-minded people.
