The popular Cathedral Square Markets return these school holidays and in addition to their carefully curated selection of art, crafts, jewellery and homewares created by high end, quality vendors from around Western Australia, a new exciting initiative is being launched.
On Sunday 3rd of July, 2016 from 10am, Cathedral Square Markets is hosting a pop-up Book Exchange just for children. To participate, simply bring along your child's pre-loved books and swap them for other popular titles for free. Children are also welcome to read their chosen books in the dedicated reading corner, which is fitted out with plenty of cosy spots to sit and relax.
Complementing the Book Exchange are 3D Drawing Classes and the chance for energetic mini maestros to try their hand at the interactive musical sculpture 'The Instrument. These special events will be held at 11am and 1pm.
Indigenous Communities Education & Awareness Foundation (ICEA) will give children the chance to learn more about our indigenous history through NAIDOC week activities on the Cathedral Square lawn.
The month's theme of storytelling through literature, history and music will also be showcased through Cathedral Square Markets' biggest ever collection of vintage book and vinyl vendors and there will also be two very special heritage tours of the State Buildings by leading WA heritage architect Ron Bodycoat. Come and to discover the history of the State Buildings and Cathedral Square's fascinating past!
Plus with a great selection of food stalls and live music from talented artists, you'll enjoy a great day out with the family. You can also pop by Petition, Long Chim, Post or Wildflower for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
