Tap to the tune of Pink Panther & Inspector Gadget
Michael Bevan, better known as Catfish The Bottleman, is probably no stranger to Sydneysiders. He is one of the many talented street artists in Sydney who performs in various locations around city like Market City in Haymarket, near St. Mary's Cathedral walkway, and Hyde Park. His energetic and animated performance often draws passer-by, tourists and kids. One can actually hear the bottle man from a distance performing popular tunes such as Pink Panther, Inspector Gadgets, Super Mario and even Christmas carol tunes during Christmas season. The Bottleman never fails to amaze the crowd and he often puts a smile on their faces as they reminisces songs from their good childhood days.
Michael Bevan, from Leichhardt has busked for the last 20 years, including 7 years professionally. There are many videos of Michael and his performance on Youtube, such as the one below:
This video was recorded and shared by someone in 2006 but rest assured, the bottleman is still performing on weekends near Market City. I saw him performed last week and as usual there was a crowd surrounding him. It's quite a unique street performance I must say even though it's made up of beer bottles and water. I believe it takes good hearing to produce different pitch, a lot of practice to find the right bottle with the right notes, good rhythm and physical coordination.
