Last year, I stumbled upon Catch Fish and Chips in Braddon, while looking for somewhere to go for lunch in the inner south. Being in the middle of Canberra, I wasn't expecting too much from the Fish and Chip shop, but I was pleasantly surprised by my experience. I enjoyed it so much that when my parents recently came to town, I suggested that we go and have dinner there.
We went on a Friday night, and it was busy, but luckily, we were able to get a table outside pretty quickly. We then had to decide what we wanted to order, which took some time, but we ultimately decided on a family pack which included four pieces of fish, chips, 8 calamari rings and a salad along with tartare sauce. We then didn't have to wait until the plates started to arrive at the table.
The food was just as I had remembered from last year, the fish was delicious and just broke away while the batter was light and crunchy without being overly oily. The chips were crunchy and had just the right of salt while the calamari rings were kept in the deep fryer just long enough.
Catch Fish and Chips, isn't a place for a fancy dinner, but it is absolutely perfect for a relaxed family dinner with great tasting fish and chips!
