Cat Cafes took off in Taiwan 15 years ago and have since spread to other parts of the world with similar initiatives opening in Asia and Europe. Cat Cafes offer a place to interact with cats in friendly, social, fun and comfortable environments for both animals and patrons.

Twelve little kitties moved into Cat Cafe Melbourne three weeks ago. These former rescue cats are to become Melbourne's urban furry socialites, gracing the rooms of the upper floor of a beautiful heritage-listed building in Queen Street, right next to the iconic Queen Vic Market.

Patrons stop by for a coffee, cake and a cat cuddle. No need to worry that your coffee might get sprinkled with fur; hot beverages and cake are consumed downstairs before making your way up to the cat parlour.

If you think you might catch a waft of a kitty litter tray, you won't; there is a private 'cats only' room, where resident kitties can eat and go to the toilet in peace.

Cat visits are booked in hour long sessions from 10am - 8pm. If you would like to visit Cat Cafe Melbourne please read the Bookings Page for regulations and frequently asked questions and head to 'Book Now' to reserve your kitty session. Note - weekends and evenings are booking up quickly.

To celebrate the opening of Australia's first Cat Cafe, we have a 'Cats, Coffee and Cake' online booking voucher to giveaway, which includes 1 x hour visit with the cats and a beverage and snack in the cafe.

For a chance to win please send an email to competitions@weekendnotes.com with 'Cat Cafe Melbourne' as the subject. Let us know why you want to visit.

The competition will close at 4pm on Friday August 8; a booking voucher code will be provided to the winner.
