Miss seven and I went with friends to the . As soon as you step off the train to stroll the short distance, you are immersed in another world. Trees sway and offer shelter to the curious building, as bellbirds provide hypnotic song. As my daughter and her buddy took part in a treasure-gathering workshop outside, my friend and I sipped coffee and chatted in the café. In between workshops, we all explored, coming across Hiromi Tango's Moon Jellies exhibition. An explosion of colour and intricate designs saw our girls squeal with delight. They made a beeline for the welcoming egg chair.

This exquisite exhibition runs until May 18th.

We spent thirty minutes exploring, then the girls went to another class where they made a little house out of cardboard. There is always something on at The Powerhouse. Productions for kids such as The 13-Storey Treehouse, workshops for kids and adults, exhibitions and the now-legendary Way Out West Festival. It runs during the July school holidays, 9-12th July, and it is free.
