Be greeted by Ceres, goddess of agriculture
The historic former Castlemaine Market Building is home to the Castlemaine Visitor Information Centre. As you walk up the slate steps and pass through the wrought iron gates, Ceres, the goddess of agriculture will cast her eyes over you from the portico.

Drop into the visitor information centre when you arrive in Castlemaine to find out about community events, historic sites and everything else that is happening in and around the district including Maldon. The Centre can also assist with accommodation bookings, bike hire, and tours.

The huge market building space is used for regular art exhibitions that showcase the work of local artisans. The venue, which includes another room at the rear with kitchen facilities, can also be hired for private functions such as weddings, birthdays, and trade shows. There is a ramp at the rear of the building for wheelchair access.
