Whitty and with an answer for everything, Castle
There are many cop shows out there, many which have the same basis which makes them all successful. A core base of 3-4 good cops who have a crime cross their desk, which they investigate, and most of the time, after a few wrong turns, end up getting their man (or woman).

Castle is slightly different to these "ordinary" cop shows, as the main character is a lovable, world-famous crime novelist. Richard "Rick" Castle has just committed what many (including his editor and ex-wife) believe will end his writing career, he's killed off his novel's main character. The local police crash his release party because a copycat killer is using the murders described in his books and they enlist Rick's help to try and figure out who the killer might be, after accusing him first of course. While is whit and elaborate explanations of the crimes is celebrated by officers Javier Esposito and Kevin Ryan, the officer he is teamed up with Kate Beckett, is not so impressed.

While working the case with Beckett, Castle comes up with and idea for a new book character, which ties him with Beckett for an extended period of time.

While there is the predictable always solved cases each episode, there is also a secret that Kate is holding onto, and it's the reason she became a police officer in the first place. So if you're a fan of cop shows, or even if your just a fan of whitty and funny shows, then Castle is for you, with a little bit of something for everyone. Series 1 will keep you on the edge of your seat and will have you scrambling to find season 2 so you can keep watching.
