Casita Miro is tucked away down a nondescript laneway in Onetangi on Waiheke Island. I came here as part of a food and wine tour in Auckland. It was well worth the visit.

As you arrive at Casita Miro, you will notice undulating vines and a Spanish inspired mosaic wall. The views out to the ocean are spectacular.

The owner, who was once a doctor, has spent hours curating the mosaic wall and the buildings to make it look as authentically Spanish as possible. You can see the love and tenderness given to the buildings, the vines and the wall.
As part of our tour, we did a Wine Flight.

The Wine Flight included four tastings and some specialised gourmet food to match. I fell in love immediately with 'Madame Rouge', one of their signature Casita Miro vine lines.

In the shop, you can buy anything from olive oil, olives, nuts, to recipe books and specialised Spanish foods. You can also purchase the specialised boutique wines that only come from Casita Miro. Prices range from $40 up to over $100. The owner prides themselves on doing a limited amount of bottles per each vintage. Our tour guide told us that some bottles sell for up to $4000NZD. Casita Miro also ships their wonderful wine around the world.

I would highly recommend a visit to Casita Miro, so do jump on a ferry from Auckland - it will be well worth it!
