The Casey Safety Village is a fun, safe, interactive environment where children can learn about road and fire safety.
A mini version of Victorian roads, complete with traffic lights, road signs, round-a-bouts, a train crossing and Lolly Pop-School Crossing; children can ride their bike or walk around the streets, getting a first-hand perspective on what it feels like to drive a car or be a pedestrian crossing the road.
The Casey Safety Village also includes the CFA Learning Centre; a simulated home environment where fire safety experts deliver a fire safety program, which includes how fires start and survival strategies in case of a home fire.
In addition to being able to ride around the roads, there may be visits from Victoria Police, a CFA Fire Truck and crew, Metro Train, SES, Ambulance Victoria, Life Education, Life Saving Victoria and Bunnings. These attendances can be confirmed closer to the date on the website.
Parents are encouraged to bring a picnic. There is one sheltered seating area, but your own chair or picnic blanket is strongly recommended.
Community groups will be providing a sausage sizzle for visitors for a small cost.
Kids can bring their own bike and helmet, or there are bikes available for hire from the Casey Safety Village. If you wish to hire a bike from the centre, please advise when booking. They have bikes suitable for ages 4 to 10 plus years. Bike hire is $3.00 each. Helmet $3.00.
Closed shoes are essential, along with weather appropriate clothing and a helmet must be worn by riders at all times.
