Cascade Gardens, Gold Coast

Published November 15th 2010
Ever wondered what the great Australian soldiers, who fought against Japan in 1942, saw as they made their way to the small village of Kokoda?

Of course, nothing can compare to how they felt or what they dealt with, however to have a slight example, a small Kokoda Trail is available for anyone interested.

Cascade Gardens is a large park situation on the Gold Coast Highway just between Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach. It is often missed due to its location being hidden on the left side of the highway, however a wrong turn could turn into an exciting adventure.

It is located right next to a small river where you can go fishing while having a barbeque with friends or family, there are games for children to play on and a lovely little stand in the middle of the gardens for weddings and parties to take place.

However, the main attraction would have to be the Mini Kokoda Trail which is good for remembering the lives of many people who were taking during the war and to imagine the experience they would have had.

Not only are there these fun filled activities to do at Cascade Gardens, but there is also Accomodation for anyone visting Queensland or for other Queenslanders to relax and sit back at the Coast for a few days or weeks. Some time to get away from all the city noise and get some fresh ocean air, while spending time with the family and learning some of Australia's history and culture all at the same time.

If the mini Kokoda Trail isn't enough for you to walk, then walk right over to the beach, located just across the Gold Coast Highway or to Oasis Shopping Centre in Broadbeach for a day out shopping or simply to one of the many restaurants and cafes located in the area.

Right next to Cascade Gardens is Jupiters Casino and Pacific Fair Shopping Centre only a few more strolls past, not to mention the Convention Centre which has different shows and events on every now and then.

If you are just a Gold Coast local, then it is the perfect quiet place to hang out with your friends, read a book by yourself or simply spend time with your loved ones amongst the beautiful surroundings.
