Spanish fiesta meets tapas in this main street favourite
Main Street Mornington is always bustling with people looking for a great place to eat, and with a variety of options it can be hard to choose just one! However, if you're looking for a night out that will sure to thrill your tastebuds, then look no further than Casa De Playa. A Spanish tapas bar and restaurant that offers a whole range of food for the best dining experience money can buy.
Whether you choose a range of tapas or you indulge in a main, the menu is sure to delight all appetites. From share boards and platters, to individual portions of tapas, to rib eye steak, it is a truly great dining experience here at Casa. I was fortunate to try both the chicken and the pork, and both were melt-in-mouth, fall-off-the-bone, perfectly cooked. All the meat in every meal was carefully cooked and paired with the right ingredients, and not one of us had a bad thing to say about it.
There are three taco options to choose from, and honestly, try them all. For me, this was the standout of the show, and all six of us that dined ended up ordering these because they were just that good. There are vegetarian options and a few vegan options in the mix to suit all diets.
Come at brunch time to enjoy a different menu, with Spanish twists on favourite brunch items, like your typical smashed avo all the way through to a Casa Cuban Sandwich.
Looking for the perfect drink to match with your meal? Typical wines and brews are available, but if you're looking for a Spanish good time, try one of their signature cocktails, or get in the spirit with a margarita. There are also juices, ciders and plenty more choices for those looking for something different. If you're dining at breakfast or brunch time, enjoy a coffee or two (or a Mexican-spiced Hot Chocolate!)
If the food and drink don't have you sold already, get ready for the most Instagram-worthy place you'll dine at in Mornington. Casa was renovated in more recent years to become the eatery we all know and love now, and it paid off big time. The downstairs eating allows big windows flowing lots of light in, while the back of the restaurant holds more mood and darker lighting to create an intimate space. Upstairs, however, is where the real beauty of this place lies. A wonderful large mural sits next to the bar that lights up during functions and events, and even the bathrooms are decked out to be on another level. Take a little explore upstairs if you can to check out the space.
Casa De Playa steers from a typical eatery by offering a real experience for the diner that takes you and your tastebuds on a tour through the best Spanish food has to offer. Next time you're down on the Mornington Peninsula, pop into Casa De Playa on the Main Street of Mornington.
