Finally a fantastic market in Brisbane's northern suburbs. The Carseldine Farmers and Artisan Markets opened on 21 June 2014 to a great reception. If you love Eat Street Markets, you'll love these. They are Saturday morning's answer to Brisbane's newest most popular market.

As you walk into the market entrance a sign greets patrons saying "Congratulations, you've made it out of bed" and whether you're an early morning riser who likes to escape the crowds, or someone who loves sleeping in, the are definitely worthy of waking up and getting out of bed for.

Much needed on the northside, these markets cater for everyone. Open every Saturday morning from 6am to midday, this is the perfect place to have breakfast and wander around. The markets are held in the old QUT Campus and if you drive along Beams Road, they are really easy to find. With plenty of bitumen and graded parking, the old campus seems designed to hold markets.

Live music greets you as you enter and sets the scene for a fantastic morning.

The stalls line the wide concrete pathways, there are plenty of undercover and seating areas, and even on a crowded day they don't feel cramped. With sealed pathways and ramps where needed, the whole area is wheelchair and pram friendly.

The markets themselves have a huge assortment of food, fresh produce, meat and seafood. All of the fruits in season are to be found here at good prices, and the seafood looked really tempting. There is a food court type area with plenty of seating, and the organisers have gone out of their way to provide trendy seating, grass areas, chairs and tables. Try the cool fake grass covered chairs, the kids will love the novelty. Or if those are in use, take advantage of the deck chairs out on the grass.

The food on offer includes a lot of Asian hot food, sweet foods such as Dutch pancakes, cupcakes and other sweet treats, German sausages, vegetarian, gluten free, pastries, a hot bagel stand with a variety of delicious bagels, hot fresh breads of every design, for something different try a goat meat pies, or maybe check out the hot popcorn, fresh fruit juices and heaps more stalls with tempting breakfast, brunch and lunch foods.

When you're done eating your fill of the fantastic food choices (the whole food court area has a fantastic aroma coming from it) the rest of the markets will not disappoint.

These markets are filled with new and handmade items, including children's clothing, pet paintings, soaps, a lot of fresh fruit and veges, handmade homewares, Mexican items, jewellery, wood carvings and wood products, natural remedies, plants and gardening, small business stands, lollies and cupcakes, children's party and homewares and more. At the time of writing there's also a clarivoyant, various holistic treatments, and an electrician ready to assist you with your home needs.

The markets have been received so well that I'm sure more stalls with be added each week. There is plenty of scope for expanding out as the area is filled with wide paths. The surrounding areas have tall gum trees and the entire area has a natural outdoors feeling but with enough neatness and cleanliness to allow easy walking around. Whether you're in sandals, thongs or heals, you won't have any problems making your way around the market lanes.

Near the food court there is a children's jumping castle, and we also saw a balloon animal man working hard making creative designs for the littlies.

So if you're looking for a fun way to spend a Saturday morning, these markets are definitely the way to go. With lots of parking, wide concrete pathways, plenty of trees and greenspaces, awesome brunch foods and coffee, and fantastic market stalls, there's no better way to spend a Saturday morning with family and friends.

Open 6am to 12pm every Saturday at the old QUT Carseldine Campus.
