Nestled in the Fleurieu Peninsula, approximately 79 kilometres south of Adelaide, is a beautiful coastal village called Carrickalinga. The name is from Kaurna Karrakardlangga meaning red gum firewood place.

This coastal town overlooking the Gulf St Vincent has no shops. However, it has one of the most beautiful beaches and was named South Australia's top beach by Lonely Planet in 2013. It is a very popular holiday retreat for tourists and locals alike. Many are attracted by its beautiful white sandy beaches, crystal clear waters and rocky coastlines.

A lookout located at Forktree Road gives visitors a stunning view of the beach and the coastline and it is worth a stop for a photo and to admire the view.

Next time you are in the Fleurieu Peninsula, make a point to visit Carrickalinga and you will not be disappointed.
