The National Film and Sound Archive, has an exhibition currently on that is a little different to a normal exhibition. There isn't any film or TV props, or even a huge exhibition space. Instead the newest exhibition is all digital, and uses virtual reality headsets to explore Aboriginal song and dance across Australia.



To experience the performance members of the public enter a small room with six or seven VR headsets. Upon putting them on they are whisked away to the Sydney Opera House followed by outback Australia. From there David Gulpilil and Jack Charles guide viewers on a journey of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander song and dance.



Viewers will get to watch contemporary dancers of Bangarra performing at the Sydney Opera House, The Lonely Boys rocking out in Alice Springs, and performers of songs and dances used to share knowledge and culture for thousands of years. And all of this without leaving the comfort of the chair!

This amazing VR Experience was made possible by the Jaunt One, a 24 lens camera system which has been made specifically to capture 360 VR footage, and the results are amazing!
