I'm a teacher living in Brisbane. I enjoy writing as a sort of paid part-time hobby. I hope you enjoy the article as I try to only write about places that I've enjoyed visiting...

If you are ever at a loose end on a Saturday or Sunday, then why not head to the Carrara Markets on the Gold Coast. As the advertising slogan says; there literally is something new for all the family around every corner.

Carrara Markets is spread over 10 acres. It boasts to being the largest permanent market in Queensland. Located 10 minutes away from the M1 motorway, it is well signposted and easy to find. Parking is ample and free of charge. Alternatively, you could catch the free bus service that operates every weekend from bus stops from Surfer's Paradise and Broadbeach and drops you off just outside the front entrance.

Stalls and attractions are diverse with over 100 fashion outlets, fresh foods stalls, toy and book stalls, second hand collectables and antique dealers. For a full list checkout their website.

Lets say, you a have child or two or maybe more. Then shopping might seem a little overrated to say the average child over ten. This can become a bit of a problem, but Carrara Markets caters for the little ones too. Why not treat them to some face painting or a donkey ride, followed by, say, a trip on the Merry Go Round? Although, I think it'd be a wise move to leave the sno cones and candy floss until after the Bungy Trampoline. Personally, I enjoyed watching Luke's Reptile Kingdom. I don't necessarily agree with animal acts, but it was informative and as humane as the shows put on by local zoos.

After a morning's or afternoon's shopping then why not have something to eat in one of the 10 cafes. Most types of fast food are catered for at reasonable prices.

All in all, we enjoyed our Sunday morning shopping.
