A noble cause and a 'magnifico' night out
Don an elegant costume and an elaborate mask and live out your Italian Carnevale dreams at the Carnevale Masquerade Ball. Being held on 11 February 2017 at The Peninsula on the Harbour Esplanade in Docklands, the ball will comprise elaborate theming, sumptuous food and spectacular entertainment.
The centuries-old Italian tradition of Carnevale is being brought to Melbourne, with two weeks of celebration, masquerade balls, food and events set to be held in the city in late October/November 2017. The masquerade ball is being held this February to launch the event in Australia.
With a theme of 'Amore', the ball joins St Valentine's Day, which is only three days after the event in celebrating romantic love, friendship and admiration. Best dressed wins a prize and it's recommended that guests go all out and wear exquisite costumes related to this theme.
The entertainment to be provided on the evening is still mostly being kept secret, but the event promises that numerous Australian and Italo-Australian entertainers will take to the stage. The 18 piece members of Hey Hey It's Saturday band are the only artists confirmed so far.
Sharing the love, proceeds from the live/silent auctions from the event will be donated to the victims of the Amatrice earthquake, which shook Central Italy in August 2016. Funds raised will support the post-earthquake reconstruction through the Amatrice National Appeal.
Find your fiery Italian zeal and celebrate love with passion for a noble cause worth being passionate about. It's sure to be a 'magnifico' night out!
