More to your favourite tipple than you might think
Today I got to do one of my favourite things. I toured the Carlton House Brewery and as you should have guessed, this isn't the first brewery that I have toured.
However, it did offer the best value for money of any brewery tour that I have been on so far. Cost of the tour was $25. For this I took part in a tour of the state of the art brewing facilities at Carlton House Brewery, a choice of dinner from the set menu and a voucher for three 'free' beers available from the bar in the Beer Garden.
The tour lasted one hour and was conducted by a very knowledgeable and humorous guide. We were show the entire production operations at the Carlton House Brewery. I always enjoy watching all those bottles that are full of beer moving around. Other than that, I'll leave the details of the tour. If you want to know more then take the tour yourself. Bookings are required for tours. They take place between Wednesday to Saturday: 10am to 12 noon. Group tour bookings are available on Monday and Tuesdays. Also available is the 'Beer Enthusiast Tour', on which a range of beers can be sampled and differences in taste derived from differing ingredients and brewing techniques explained by the experts: cost $29 - Wednesday to Saturdays.
After the tour, we partook of the hospitality in the Beer Garden. The set menu had a limited but acceptable range of meals on the menu and as to the beer and wine, then there was an extensive range of beverages to choose from. Soft drinks, tea and coffee was also available. I was surprised by the number of people who were dining and attending staff Christmas parties that were not attached to the tour.
