It's an area that is well removed from cafes and stores, and the perfect place to enjoy a coffee and a snack after an energetic walk or work out. On weekends, the ovals are dotted with school sports competitions.
It's always busy here. Both weekends and weekdays see boating enthusiasts launching their boats from the ramp. Fishermen throw a line or two from the jetty and clean their catch at the council-installed fish-cleaning facilities. Outdoor exercise classes are a regular sight, especially during Covid-19.
One person you will find here almost every day is the Man in the Coffee Van. He starts around 6.00 am, and finishes somewhere between 2.00 and 3.00 pm. If it's raining, he stays at home.
Known as Café Carino – well, it is a Café in a Car – he serves a variety of coffees using regular, almond or soy milk, as well as hot chocolate. For those who prefer tea, you're in luck too with both black tea and herbal teas. There are also some yummy toasties, muffins and chocolate brownies for those who have worked up an appetite or just want to spoil themselves.
