There's nothing very Caribbean about the Caribbean Market in Scoresby other than the fact that they have a huge body of water (lake) on the grounds.
The market sells toys made in China, fruits and veggies from local farmers, Italian ice-cream and trinkets from all over. What the market may have however, is a holiday feel to the place.
If it's a Sunday and the weather is good, the Caribbean Market makes a good family day out. It's got rides for kids (Jungle Cruise, Trains, Jumping Castles, Bungee Trampoline and Beech Jeeps); not to mention a selection of different playgrounds.
Adults can enjoy live bands, lake views, hot dogs and shopping. While the market may not be the best in terms of price and freshness, it does offer a fair bit of variety.
You'll find English bric-a-brac, Vietnamese bakery products, wholesale fruit and nuts, winter shoes, clothes, computer paraphernalia and more. Entry free on Sunday is $2.50 per adult and rides are about $4 each.
Because my son loves trains, my top pick is the train ride which goes for about 5km around the gardens. It's not Thomas but it's blue. And free of charge on Wednesdays and Fridays.
