Are you like me and allow the kids to browse Weekend Notes to discover what they would like to do on the weekend? I'm sure as soon as they see the words "cubby" their eyes will pop out. Kids love cubbies and making things out of cardboard. They love to create something out of junk, and they also like to see what other kids have created.



Here is a fun event made by kids and presented as a special exhibition. Kids will love to come into the city to catch this one. As part of the Come Out Children's Festival, the Cardboard Cubby Town will slowly come to life over the course of the festival.

Cardboard artists have come to Adelaide, and are ready and waiting as I write to accept workshop bookings from schools. They will inspire the children and help them make fantastic creations, which they will place in the Cubby Town Exhibit. The cardboard creations can be very small works right up to larger pieces. If you are reading this prior to the festival, then mention it to your child's teacher as they may still have a workshop space free.





If your child's class does not participate in a workshop as part of the school program, then take them along to the Lyrics Room at the Festival Theatre complex to see the Cubby Town. Remember it will be an evolving exhibit, so there will be more to see as time goes on. There are many events for kids on during the Come Out Festival, so perhaps you can combine a visit to this exhibit while you are doing another fun activity with your family over the weekend.



After viewing the exhibition go downstairs to the walkway to the Railway Station and take a snap of your kids near this beaut new mural for the festival.
