So, I told my husband we were moving closer to here

When some hear the word 'vegetarian' a lot of people immediately cringe. They imagine hippies frolicking in the garden, getting excited about berries or an endless supply of tofu... and I admit, I was close to one of them. Though I always loved eating veggie meals I always hungered for meat... until I went to Cardamom Pod. The food is so good you almost forget meat, 'what meat?'. Many people ask this when they try the delicious meals of any of the Cardamom Pod restaurants.

Since I'd already been to their more laid-back venue, cafeteria-style Broadbeach resto, when I heard that their other restaurant in Brickworks Southport had recently started a special summer dinner menu, I was all over it. Heck, we drove all the way from Brissy to go and trust me - it is SO worth it.

When you enter the restaurant there's still the cool, laid-back feel but with a more elegant twist. Anything resembling a cafeteria is hard to find and instead you are greeted with a very trendy fine-dining experience. You forget that the place is vegetarian and serves the most beautiful meals!

Everyone who works here carries that atmospheric vibe that I think comes with working for a place like this (I got to talk to a few people who were buzzing around us) all of whom loved working here and they all knew that the food does the talking. You can feel that the place is definitely a product of love and it shows in both restaurants, the menu AND the food.

We looked around to see an almost-packed restaurant, full of happy and satisfied customers - so it's a MUST to make a reservation to ensure you get to try this place at night. It's also open during the day, however, with a different menu.

By the time our main courses arrived we were pleasantly full! But it looked so good (almost too good, if you ask our new friends on the table beside us) to eat. After taking the obligatory photos of our meals (how could you not?) we tucked into a very filling and delicious meal. One of the waitresses told us that these meals are prepared freshly and with much love and respect for the ingredients - and yes, you can taste the difference. I asked our new friends beside us what they thought about the place,"we go for breakfast at the other Cardamom Pod all the time, but when we heard that this place does dinner we had to try it, it's our first time here - it's just awesome!" said one of the beautiful girls. After tasting a bite of their food, the other added "It's like a burst of flavour that you're not quite expecting - how can eating healthy taste this good?". She took the words right out of my mouth. By this point, it was near dessert time and when ours came out (we decided to share) I was seriously contemplating moving to the Gold Coast just for this place!

What I love about this place other than its positive vibe that you can feel when you step through its doors, is its good food! Many times when you have a vegetarian meal, you think 'it's ok'. This place is the opposite, you think it's wonderful first and then you are even doubly amazed that the entire meal is plant based! I would recommend everyone to try their new Summer Dinners available every Friday and Saturday night from 5.30 to 9.30pm.
