fine dining meets high fashion
Entwining fashion and food, Cara & Co, situation in Westfield CBD is a funky, high class concept store - adapted from Moscow.

Walking in, you pass through the clothes shop, sporting one off pieces along with bright pink cameras, iPhone accessories and the like - all ultra quirky.

As you walk through the entrance to the restaurant, the mood changes. It is refined, elegant and modern. Projectors display runway catwalk shows on the walls, along with images of the fine food served at Cara & Co.

We take a seat towards the back, by the window and note that everything is designed and implemented to a tee. The décor is elegant but funky, with orange and green tinted water tablets, a light up transparent floor and multi-toned wooden panel ceiling.

On each table sits a small white dish with two large circular white tablets in it. The waiter comes along and pours warm water into the dish and we watch as the two tablets rise into two tall cylinders - warm towels.

The bread is warm and plentiful, served with butter and charcoal salt. Tonight we sample a $30 set menu of three canapés, main course and cocktail on arrival.

The cocktail is delicious with lemon grass and ginger. it is light, refreshing and complements the food.

The first canapés are presented on a smooth black stone. A crisp cylinder of salted caramel with an asparagus mousse, the combination creates a mix of flavours and textures in a bite size portion, and leaves us curious as to what will come out next.

We weren't left waiting for long though as soon the second canapé arrived - a lollipop presentation of goats cheese in a carrot and ginger casing. the carrot and ginger flavours were mild, overpowered by the goats cheese. It was simple and delicious.

The final canapé, served in a shot glass, was a liquid cheese with puffed risotto. It was strong in flavour and the portion size was just right.

The main meal was a fish, served with pumpkin mash, various garnishes including a black puff of bread and a sweet sauce that was added by the waiter at the table. The dish couldn't be faulted and the flavour combination was again, outstanding.

The service was professional but a tad on the cold side. I would definitely recommend Cara & Co. However, without the $30 special (which runs on Tuesdays) it can be quite expensive.

We left without dessert but the special is accompanied by a $15 dessert of day with a coffee. (This is around $29 in value by itself).
With the bill, we were given a small bite of dessert though, which was a nice touch.
