The cars may be used, but the coffee is fresh
Cafes can pop up in many unusual places but one in the middle of a used car yard is unusual.

The Car City Café is just that, in the middle of a car yard.

Car City is an extremely large used car complex in Maroondah Highway, Ringwood. It boasts over twenty independent car lots with hundreds of cars in stock overall.

I have been to this café many times, usually to enjoy my toasted bacon sandwich and coffee. I must say it was a very nice bacon sandwich with a couple of layers of crispy bacon, unlike some with just a single piece of flat bacon.

I always eat in, admiring the array of cars through the three sides of floor-to-ceiling windows.

My observations, while not looking out the windows, was that most of the clientele were there for take-away.

To cater for those in a hurry a large range of hot and cold ready-to-go food awaits them. I'm not a big fan of ready-to-go hot food, but those presented looked like they had just been cooked and looked really delicious.

The croissants look appertising.

If ready to go is not your thing, you can order from the two menu boards.

Most appropriate for cold winter days was a self-serve soup bar. For regular soup aficionados, a loyalty card is available.

I, a non-buyer of cars, was attracted many years ago by the "Café Open" sign at the entrance to this car buyer's paradise. There is usually a couple of vacant parking bays opposite the café.

Easy to find.

Many hot drinks are available as per the drinks menu. Almost every café boasts 'great coffee' and Car City Café coffee is just that, great.

It is a great place to pop into for a quick snack and coffee.
