I am undertaking a double degree in Bachelor of Journalism, Bachelor of International Relations while living in Adelaide's Northern Suburbs. I have enjoyed writing and telling others of great things to do in this amazing city!
The movie of choice for this special screening is Captain Phillips, starring Tom Hanks.
The movie is due to be released in Australia on the 24th of October and is based on the book written about the true story of the 2009 Somali Pirate hijacking of Maersk Alabama – a US container ship.
Reviews praise the performance of Tom Hanks and the previously unknown actors portraying the Somali Pirates. The movie is said to be well directed and perhaps even Paul Greengrass's best film yet.
Captain Phillips is rated M for mature audiences and contains mature themes and violence.
The trailer for Captain Phillips can be viewed here.
The Movie Night is being held on Thursday the 24th of October at Victa Cinema, doors open at 7pm and the movie will be screened at 7.30pm.
Tickets Cost: $20 per person and can be purchased before the event from: Elephants Trunk, 558 Ocean St., Victor Harbor. Victor Harbor R-7 Primary School, The Parkway, Victor Harbor.
Tonkin's Sports Power, Shop 12, Victor Central Shopping Centre.
• Mega Health, Shop 9A, Victor Central Shopping Centre.
Tickets can also be purchased on the night if not sold out. However, given that the screening is Captain Phillips, on the day of its release, it's probably better to pre-purchase your ticket to avoid bitter disappointment.
Don't leave as soon as the screening is finished, or you'll miss out on all the little extras afterwards. After the screening there will be a raffle draw, the door prize will be drawn and there will be plenty of refreshments. This movie night isn't just a screening; it's a whole night out!
The Victa Cinema is quaint and has a wonderful atmosphere. The feeling of grandeur is lovely.
