If you're up for the powerful, intelligent and down to earth best friend to be your next favourite superhero - then Captain Marvel is the latest gem in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In this movie, questions are answered that we didn't even know we were asking until we got the answers.

Set in 1990, before the Avengers program has been established, Nick Fury and a fresh out of school Agent Coulson happen upon Captain Marvel. Marvel is here on Earth as she attempts to prevent an alien invasion as a galactic war between two alien races reaches Earth's shores. While on Earth, Captain Marvel, aka Carol Danvers, uncovers her past and discovers what it means to be human.

Stan Lee makes his last appearance and the opening titles include a touching tribute to the creative genius behind the Marvel universe. Actor Brie Larson, who plays Captain Marvel has had a host of roles, including the daughter in the television series, United States of Tara and the Rock Star named Envy in the cult movie Scott Pilgrim Versus the World. In this film, Brie brings her sense of sardonic humour to the role, creating a believable, down to earth character who is sure to become an excellent addition to the Avengers team, who will make their next appearance in Avengers: Endgame later this year. Brie is joined by Samuel L Jackson (Nick Fury), Ben Mendelsohn (Talos), Clark Gregg (Phil Coulson), Lashana Lynch (Maria Rambeau) and Jude Law (Yo-Rogg). Oh, and don't forget "Goose" the cat - seriously cute!

All up, Captain Marvel continues what we have come to expect from Marvel studios, an entertaining, action-packed two hours, with a sprinkling of humour and a touch of melodrama as we explore what makes us tick. Captain Marvel opens nationally on March 7, 2019 in Australian cinemas. If you are a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, then don't miss it.
